Indication Take one capsule daily with a meal. Description Humic substances are the most common forms of organic carbon in the natural environment and are widespread on the surface of the earth. Most humic substances are attached to inorganic components (clay and oxides), and a smaller part gets dissolved in the solutions of the soil, particularly under alkaline conditions. An important feature of humic substances is that they can combine with metal ions, oxides and clay minerals to form water soluble or insoluble complexes and can interact with organic compounds such as alkenes, fatty acids, capillary-active substances and pesticides. Humifulvate™ is obtained from a 3,000 - 10,000 year old geologically young peat deposit on the shores of Lake Balaton in Hungary. These peat deposits contain many types of humic and fulvic acids, chemical by-products of decomposition of organic matter. Humic and fulvic acids are very efficient chelators and ion exchangers. By organically binding trace minerals, they assist in the incorporation of these trace minerals into organisms more efficiently than inorganic forms, such as found in most vitamin/mineral supplements on the market today. Biological Role The physical and chemical properties of humic acids and their biological role in bacteria, fungi, viruses and plants have been well documented. Research indicates that humic acid is absorbed in vivo, and can act as an active agent modifying biochemical reactions. Its effects on cell metabolism, enzymes, free radicals and minerals have been documented in the literature. The ability of humic acids to form bonds with metal ions explains their ability to chelate with heavy metals and aid in their elimination from the body. Humic acids also have desmutagenic effects, antioxidant and anticoagulant activity. Humifulvate™ as a Heavy Metal Chelator Humifulvate™ as an Organic Essential Mineral and Trace Mineral Supplement Humifulvate™ incorporates a superior source of organic trace minerals. Sea plants, most notably Ascophyllum Nodosom (Norwegian Kelp), have long been recognized as a superior source of vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients. Norwegian Kelp contains over 60 essential minerals and trace minerals, and being a sea plant, these nutrients are in the most bioavailable form possible, making kelp the finest source of organic minerals on the planet. Organic minerals are the only form of mineral that the body can incorporate directly into the cells and tissues, and organic minerals are only provided by plants, with sea plants being the most potent and most complete form. Inorganic mineral forms such as calcium carbonate from dolomite, oyster shell and coral are poorly absorbed because the body must first break them down via the digestive process before they can be absorbed. This is a very inefficient process, and in healthy people, less than 6% of the inorganic mineral will be transformed to the organic form for incorporation into cell membranes. In the elderly, or in people with digestive disorders, the absorption of inorganic minerals can be close to zero. When Humifulvate is taken along with Norwegian Kelp, the absorption of these myriad nutrients is further enhanced, making Humifulvate , not only a powerful heavy metal detoxifier, but also the most effective trace mineral supplement possible. Summary Humic acid and fulvic acid compounds such as found in special peat formations are shown to be completely safe and effective. The functions they perform are varied and multiple including the transport of metal ions, contribution to the cation-exchange capacity of soil and water and binding of various organic molecules such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. They can reduce the toxicity of certain toxic compounds found in soils and waters, as well as to increase the bioavailabity of essential nutrients and trace minerals in the diet.
